MY LIFE IN PHOTOS - NEW YORK AND JOSH
Blanche pregnant with Joshua, 1971.
Blanche nursing in the background. Me joyous in the foreground. Our Greenwich Street apartment. We could see the World Trade Center being built looking out the far window. Rudi found us this apartment in an artist’s co-op and helped us buy it. It was amazing that we could have a West Village loft that we could afford. It’s hard to explain all the gifts that Rudi provided for his students.

A first family photo on Greenwich Street. Blanche and I used many of the skills we learned helping Rudi renovate his new 10th Street house in building our own loft. It was a stunning expansive space. We built the kitchen, a sunken bed, a pull out bed, Japanese sliding panels and a wall of bookshelves. We did it all.

A second family photo. Josh is just starting to get used to us.

Josh and his dad in our Greenwich Street apartment. This is where I wrote the script THE GEORGE DUNLAP TAPE which later became my first produced screenplay BRAINSTORM. I wrote one scene a night while Blanche put Josh to bed. It was hard for me to sacrifice that time with him but I was determined to make movies and this was the only hope I had of getting to Hollywood.

Me and Josh somewhere in NYC. I could not believe I had such an amazing child or that I had a child at all. He was the fulfillment of powerful dreams.
