MY LIFE IN PHOTOS - PLACES, BEAR HOLLOW
This is our house in the Hudson Valley of New York. It was called Bear Hollow. We lived here for 15 years while maintaining the Northridge house and flying back and forth with three dogs. We bought it because we couldn’t find a house in the LA area we liked that could also be a ranch for Blanche’s horses. This place was magical but it was a financial stretch. It did appeal to my baronial nature but would have bankrupted us had we stayed.

Bear Hollow was a 4-century house, built in the 1700’s, added onto in the 1800’s, again in the 1900’s and we did renovations after we moved in in 2000. The interior never totally gelled for me inside but it was a fascinating space.

Bear Hollow was beautifully situated. It became home to our East coast family and a center for the Rudi meditation classes for a whole new group of students. Big Indian, Rudi’s ashram, was only an hour away.

Comfortable seating. This was, in many ways, a dream home. But maintaining two large homes was unsustainable. Fortuitously, Josh and Evanne were giving birth to our second grandchild and we decided to sell this home and rent a place near them—in Redmond, Washington, just outside Seattle. It was a smart move.
